Getting Started

What does Be Someone Sports actually do?

We're a Houston-area youth sports organization offering basketball, volleyball, football, and cheer. We run recreational programs for first-time athletes and select/elite teams for kids ready for the next level. The whole point: skill, teamwork, and character — in that order.

What ages and grades do you serve?

Our programs span from Kindergarten through 12th grade, with specific divisions varying by sport and season. The Find Your Program quiz is the fastest way to land on the right fit for your child.

Where are you located?

We operate across Friendswood, Pearland, and the Greater Houston area. Specific gyms and fields depend on the season and program — schedule details are sent at registration.

How do I get my child started?

Take the Find Your Program quiz for a personalized recommendation, or jump straight to league registration. First-time? Read the First-Time Parents section below.

Programs

What sports do you offer?

Basketball, volleyball, football, and cheer. Each runs its own seasons through the year — check the registration page for which programs are open right now.

What's the difference between recreational and select/elite?

Recreational is open enrollment and focused on learning the sport, having fun, and growing. Select / Elite teams are tryout-based, require a bigger commitment, and play at a higher level of competition.

Do you offer skill clinics or camps?

Yes — periodically across the year. Watch our Instagram for clinic announcements or email info@besomeonesports.com to be put on the notification list.

Registration & Cost

How do I register?

Visit our registration hub — you'll see every season currently open with a direct link. Registration is online and takes about 5–10 minutes.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on the sport, season, and program type. Each program's registration page lists the full fee plus what's included (uniform, league insurance, etc.). No surprise fees at signup.

Do you offer payment plans?

Some seasons offer split payment plans. If you'd like to discuss a plan, email info@besomeonesports.com before completing registration and we'll set you up.

Do you offer financial assistance?

We work with families on a case-by-case basis to keep kids on the court. Email us and we'll talk about options privately.

📅

Schedules & Locations

When and where are practices?

Practice times and locations are confirmed after rosters are set, generally within 1–2 weeks of registration close. They're sent by email and posted in your team's communication channel.

Where are games played?

Games rotate across our partner gyms and fields across the Greater Houston area. Specific venues are confirmed once schedules are published for the season.

How long is a typical season?

Most leagues run 8–10 weeks of regular season plus playoffs. Camps and clinics are shorter, single-event programs.

💬

Communication

How will I hear from you during the season?

Primary updates come by email and text from your team's coach and from Be Someone Sports admin. Major announcements also go on our Instagram.

What if I'm not receiving emails or texts?

Check spam/promotions and add info@besomeonesports.com as a known sender. If you still see nothing, email us with your athlete's name and we'll verify the contact on file.

Who do I contact with a question about my child's team?

For team-specific questions (practice times, lineup, game logistics), start with your coach. For policy, billing, or registration issues, email info@besomeonesports.com.

First-Time Parents

My kid has never played this sport. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Our recreational programs are built for first-time athletes. Coaches teach fundamentals from zero and the season is about progress, not perfection.

What does my child need to bring?

Athletic shoes, water bottle, and a willingness to learn. Uniform and any league-specific gear are provided or listed at registration.

How competitive is this going to feel?

For our rec programs: development-first. We want every kid to play, learn, and have fun. For our select/elite teams: more competitive by design, but the character piece still leads.

What's expected of me as a parent?

Get your athlete to practice and games on time, support your coach, and cheer hard. That's the whole job.

Elite / Select Teams

How does my athlete try out?

Tryout dates are announced before each season on our registration pages and Instagram. You register for tryouts the same way you'd register for a league.

What's the commitment level?

Select/elite teams practice more frequently, play more games, and may travel for tournaments. Specific commitment varies by sport and team — coaches lay out the full season expectation at the team meeting after tryouts.

What if my athlete doesn't make a select team?

You're absolutely welcome in our recreational program for that same season. Plenty of select players started in rec, and lots of rec players stay rec because they love it.

Where can I learn more about your Elite / Select programs?

Visit our Be Someone Elite page for the full overview of teams, coaches, and tryouts.

Policies

What is your refund policy?

The full official policy lives on our Refund & Returns Policy page. The short version:

  • Before tryouts or evaluations: full refund available before the athlete participates in that season's tryouts or evaluations.
  • After tryouts or evaluations: partial refunds or future-season credits considered case-by-case — common examples include a documented season-ending injury or a family moving from the area before the first official practice.
  • We can also defer your registration to a future season or apply it as a credit instead of refunding.

Refund questions: info@besomeonesports.com. For the full timeline and documentation requirements, see the Refund & Returns Policy page.

What's your code of conduct?

Be Someone Sports expects respect and good sportsmanship from every athlete, parent, coach, and official. Coaches will share the season's specific expectations at the team meeting. Email us if you ever need to flag a concern privately.

Do you have rules around uniforms and gear?

Each program has a uniform standard, which is shared at registration. Custom add-ons (warm-ups, bags, etc.) may be offered separately.

What about photos and video of my child?

We do photograph games, practices, and events for use in our marketing, social media, and Be Someone TV content. If you'd like your child opted out, please email info@besomeonesports.com at the time of registration.
