Each coach brings a proven track record of developing players, building winning cultures, and preparing athletes for the next level. From NJCAA national contenders to Texas state championship programs, our coaches have competed and coached at the highest levels—and they bring that same standard to every practice, every game, and every player in the Be Someone Elite program.
Elite Coach
Scott Gernander
14U Head Coach | Be Someone Elite
Coach Scott Gernander brings elite-level experience and proven winning leadership to Be Someone Elite. With an overall coaching record of 130–32, he has built a reputation as one of the top program builders and player developers in the region.
Gernander began his coaching career at Sam Houston State University, where he served as a graduate assistant before returning to San Jacinto College—the program where his journey started. After rising through the ranks, he was named Head Coach in 2013 and quickly transformed the program into a national contender.

- 33–2 record and top seed in the NJCAA National Tournament
- Multiple Region XIV & District Coach of the Year honors
- Over 20+ national tournament appearances for the program
- Development of multiple NJCAA All-Americans

Known for his fast-paced, high-scoring system and disciplined player development, Gernander’s teams have consistently averaged near 90 points per game while competing at the highest level.
Before coaching, he was a standout player at both San Jacinto College and Sam Houston State, helping lead teams to conference championships and national runner-up finishes.
At Be Someone Elite, Coach Gernander brings that same championship mindset—focused on developing complete players, building confidence, and preparing athletes for the next level.

16U Head Coach | Be Someone Elite
Coach Rodney “Sixx” Taylor brings a rare combination of energy, connection, and competitive edge to Be Someone Elite. Known for his high-intensity coaching style and ability to connect with players, Coach Sixx creates an environment where athletes are pushed to grow, compete, and believe in themselves.

Daniel Moore
17U Head Coach | Director of High School Operations | Be Someone Elite
Coach Daniel Moore brings elite-level experience and a proven track record of building winning programs to Be Someone Elite. With a background at some of the most competitive levels of high school basketball in the country, he is known for developing players and transforming teams.
Duncanville Legacy

He then took over as Head Coach at Pflugerville Weiss High School, where he immediately made an impact—leading a team that had missed the playoffs the previous season to a District Championship and earning Coach of the Year honors.
At Summer Creek High School, Coach Moore continued to build winning culture, guiding the Bulldogs to back-to-back playoff appearances after the program had previously missed the postseason.
Beyond wins and accolades, Coach Moore is deeply committed to player development, mentorship, and long-term success. He has helped numerous student-athletes advance to the next level, both athletically and academically.

Calvin Johnson
Player Development Coach | Be Someone Elite
Coach Calvin Johnson brings over a decade of high-level playing and training experience to Be Someone Elite, with a background that spans Division I and professional basketball. After competing at the Division I level, Coach Calvin went on to play professionally and semi-professionally, gaining firsthand experience at the highest levels of the game. He now channels that experience into elite player development, working with athletes at every stage of their journey.
